The One Book Two Book festival is scheduled for February 26-28, 2016. Students are encouraged to write a one page entry (at home) and submit it by Wednesday, January 6. Information about the festival and submission process will be discussed with students this week in Library class, and a sheet will be sent home in Friday Folders that includes more information about the submission requirements and process.

Subject Updates
L.A.
In Language Arts we have been reading a novel, Kensuke's Kingdom. We then complete 4 questions to go with that day's reading. We are also working on poems, we get a new style daily and so far have done, limerick, haiku, couplet, acrostic, cinquain, diamante, and shape poems.
MATH
In math we have been using graphs to make linear equations that we will later take a unit test on. We have also been rules for other equations.
Science
In science we have been doing stain tests.Students choose a variable, detergent type, cloth material, by making different stains on different cloths then using detergent to get them out. Below are some pictures of us doing some detergent testing with our science groups.
Social Studies
In social studies we recently switched teachers. Mr. Criswell's class went to Mrs. Johnson's to learn about the Civil War. Mrs. Johnson's class went to Mr. Ritter's to learn about the Native Americans, and Mr. Ritter's class went to Mr. Criswell's to learn about the 13 Colonies and our government and Constitution.

-No weekly math or spelling next week due to our shortened week for Thanksgiving!

Conferences
We have been very busy getting ready for our first year of student-led conferences. The pictures below are of us working with partners to practice saying what we will be saying to our parents at conferences. Conferences are this Thursday (tonight), Friday, and next Thursday (Nov. 19).
